Muzaffar Shermamatov has worked in Uzbekistan's travel industry since 2018, first as a guide and then on the tour operator side. From 2023 to 2025 he worked as a tourism development specialist on Resiland, a landscape resilience programme with an ecotourism component. He founded PilavTour in the same field he had spent seven years studying from the inside. Based in Samarkand, he works in English, Russian and Spanish.
“After two years working on landscape resilience and ecotourism, I kept returning to one question: what does a tour leave behind in the place it visits? PilavTour is my attempt to answer that in practice — small groups, local suppliers, routes planned by people who live here.”
